West Beach House -Sea Views, hotel in Cobh

Offering inner courtyard views, West Beach House -Sea Views is an accommodation located in Cobh, 500 metres from Cathedral of St. Colman and 5.8 km from Fota Wildlife Park.

Mary, the owner, met us at the door with a huge smile and her two Scottish Terriers (Scotty Dogs) named Freddie and Winnie. They let us tickle them behind their ears ( but not Mary although if we asked nicely she may have allowed us!). The accommodation was Georgian decorated to a very high standard. We stayed in the self-contained garden house with cooking facilities for at home catering. The toilet and shower were excellent with plenty of space. The decor of the room was well thought through. The bed was so comfortable that it was a shame to get out of it in the morning. The nearby cathedral replaced the need for a watch with its frequent, soothing chimes. Each morning we were greeted with croissants and jam from Mary with Freddie the dog being an alert hoover for an dropped crumbs. Mary was a font of information about the locality which was so useful when we planned our days. Nearby was the train station that took us to Cork and other attractions. The food in Cobh (pronounced “Cove) was delicious and plentiful and was great vfm.

Lovely little coastal town with parking and good traditional Pubs like Kelly’s Bar well worth a visit you can leave the car behind and hop on the train into Cork it’s only a short trip away. Then you can shop away to your hearts content. I imagine that is a great option for the Cruise ship passengers when they visit. Oh and I don’t want to forget the restaurants like the Quays or the Titanic who look after all your needs.

Local businesses lacked the customer service mentality that seems prevalent throughout Ireland. Very few dining options, most of them full. Cobh is a small town easily covered in an afternoon, and nothing about the local populace invites much engagement. It was a drab experience overall.

Cobh is delightful, quite small but with many things to do mainly concerned with history of the town. It is associated with the Titanic, but amazingly the infrastructure for the big liners is still there: the White Star Line and Cunard offices are still there as is the train station which brought so many travellers to the town. There are plenty of good restaurants in the town and the town is very easy to get around. The only problem is the hilliness of the town. Also Cork city is very close by.

Absolutely pleasure and unforgettable experience staying in this fabulous Victorian mansion. The spacious en-suite has an amazing view of Cobh harbour and is super clean. Quick and sufficient hot water in the bathroom. The hosts are incredibly friendly and helpful, they helped us book a nice dinner and gave nice recommendations for things to do in town. Delicious breakfast with plenty of options and fresh juice, fruits and yogurt. This is so far my most pleasant stay in Ireland also world widely, would definitely recommend!!

Had a lovely stay at the hotel for 2 nights this week. The Hotel was very nicely decorated and clean. Ate in the restaurant one night and the food was good too. Nice rooftop beer garden located on the 3rd floor was nice to have when the weather was good and there were no Tables outside the front door. Really good central location in Cobh with lots to see and do around the town and surrounding area. Staff were very friendly when in contact with them. I would stay again if visiting Cobh.

Fabulous location and welcoming staff. View from out room and the dinning area was exceptional. Dinner was delicious, the breakfast was ok but not as good as dinner. Despite this we would still stay again and recommend to family or friends visiting Cobh. We would just request a room without this issue next time. We really enjoyed the titanic experience and our visit to Spike Island which were less than 5 minute walk from hotel.

The staff was so helpful and accommodating. I wanted to order a birthday cake for my partner and Samuel arranged that for me before we arrived. He had been friendly and helpful, and catered to all our requests. We got an upgrade too and got a room at the top with sea view. The hotel had a bar which was really good and we spent a good bit of time over there as well. All local attractions were just 10 mins walk away.

At first we didn’t really prepare for being part of someone else’s home, and to be treated so well. The hosts are fantastic, made us feel very very welcome, a totally different and wonderful experience from any other b+b or hotel we have stayed in Ireland. View of the bay was wonderful, and the breakfast (with surprise twist) was also wonderful.

Delicious breakfast menu - accompanied by freshly baked scones and brown bread . Lovely house in quiet area - ideal location for exploring Cobh and other towns in South Cork. Enjoyed the 15 min quayside walk into the historic port centre each day. Regular short commute by train available Cobh to Cork City daily. .

My room (16) was spacious and comfortable but, most importantly had a spectacular view so, overall my stay was enjoyable. However, It was also very noisy due to the kitchen located directly below. The location is great and the free underground parking is very convenient as street parking is tricky in Cobh.
