We loved the Church of St.
We loved the Church of St. Peter and Paul - they feature vivid and colourful stained glass windows made by Harry Clarke. We were in there for way longer than we anticipated, the art was so detailed and interesting. Athlone is vibrant lovely and tourist friendly town with good hotels,bars,restaurants and tourist activities.I brought 12 Danish guys there for 24 hours during a five day tour of Ireland. They loved it.Boat trip,live music,poker tournament in hotel,few pubs.Great craic!

We ate at The Fatted Cow, which served excellant food in a professional and friendly atmosphere.The town itself was easy to get around with good transport links to other towns and cities. The checking in process is simple. The rooms are very spacious, clean, comfortable, and quiet. The large TV in each room also has loads of TV channels to view. The staff are very polite and courteous, and it definitely beats other 5 star hotels that I have stayed in. I will always stay here, whenever I am in Athlone.

Our room was beautiful and comfy, and breakfast was quite delicious. I found myself wishing we had more time here because of the excellent hosts! Neil gave many recommendations and fun history lessons of the extended area. The house was a short walk (maybe 1 km?) into the touristy part of Athlone. Would stay again!
