Pantai Cenang is a nice beach, but the beach to the south is dreadful. Having said that, nothing is open (in April) along the beach. There are a handful of rented chairs and umberellas but no real beach service, such as in Patong and the like. Not a lot to look at... Being a Muslim country, you cannot be served a cocktail on the beach. Go outside Malaysia for that. The people are wonderful and the food great, but it is not set up for western tastes. This time of year (Ramadan) most places are closed and it is like a ghost town.

It's a local area on the beach with many eateries and shops, you can get a more expensive or cheaper massage, not to mention they have a very good wine shop that provides some reasonable wines at a fair price.
There is a variety of food close by or you can find some more expensive dining at Hotels around the place, but the local food was very good.
The question would l go back, the answer is Yes, we have already booked our next trip to the same hotel, wonderful experience and very relaxing holiday

Noise day and night.During the day, the windows overlook the pool with a bar, where drunk people discuss their problems very loudly in the afternoon All wooden chalet with common repartition wall, terrible audibility, everything that your neighbors do you will hear as if you live with them.... After talking to the reception that it is impossible to sleep until 3 am, we were offered the same room but in another chalet...
We will definitely not go to this place again

Attractions of Langkawi are covered in a few days.
Attractions of Langkawi are covered in a few days. Beaches near hotel (southwest) are OK during high tide, but water appears dirty in shallow areas at low tide. Not inviting for swimming and plenty of jelly fish in the sea. Perhaps beaches in north near luxury resorts are better, but did not experience.
Food in hotel and surrounding area disappointing and very touristy. Overall not very expensive but low quality. Well suited perhaps for budget travelers.Transportation (taxi) very affordable.

The best area to stay on the island if you are looking for nice beaches with a lively atmosphere. We always feel safe in this area. Yellow cafe is a great spot to watch the sunset and also has nice food. The Cliff restaurant has a good happy hour during sunset hours and would highly recommend a visit here.

There's a Japanese restaurant called Unkaizan.
There's a Japanese restaurant called Unkaizan. Its food quality is disgusting. The worst I have ever experienced and they know it but just could not care any less. There are much better options. level 1 of the mall in Cenang has a conveyer belt Japanese that you can order from a menu its cheaper and much better.
For a real quality Japanese you have to go to Kuah (20 minutes) and visit Tokyo Japanese restaurant. The Chef there is amazing, try his black prawn, just tell him 4 days before though as that's how long it takes to prep them,
Middle eastern food is also wonderfully catered for by one of the first restaurants you come across on the entrance the the Cenang strip. Amazing quality food but be careful not to over order.
All the Chinese restaurants are much the same offering good quality items.
If on a budget go local, there are plenty of options. We had Turmeric chicken a couple of times and it was delicious (with rice) and only cost 8 Ringgits (about £1.25).
The property was amazing! If you’re looking for a calm and peaceful retreat, Panji Panji is the place 😍 ! Elkin was so accommodative during my stay , suggesting and taking care of each and everything. The vibe of the place itself is too good. They have a very famous cafe called smiling buffalo within the compound and the breakfast and food was A+ ! Jeff the manager was amazing enough to take is around in Langkawi on our last night to the hot spots (night market etc)
would definitely come back here if i visit again 💯

The hostel usually offers dormitory-style bunk beds and sometimes private rooms, along with shared facilities like bathrooms, kitchenettes, and common areas. Very nice studio room. Clean and well organized. It is a very convenient location close to Pantai Chenang. Easy to pin on grab app.
The host (Mas) is very accomodating. She upgraded pur room to studio with balcony. She always make sure that she’s done prearing breakfast before you go out and about. She also speaks English very well. She will also give you direction if you want to explore Langkawi.
Value of money is really worth it! If the highest rate is 10, I will give her a 20!
I think I’ll have a hard time not just going back here every time I come to Langkawi. I was worried about the location, but it couldn’t have been easier to access. We took a ten-minute cab from the airport to the ferry terminal, and then a short boat ride out to the island. We were immediately welcomed by the fantastic resort staff, who were very caring and attentive. And then we spent the rest of the weekend alternating between the pool, beach, and spa. What’s not to love?
We really enjoyed our stay at the Mercure Hotel in Langkawi. The pool was very big and great for kids as it had a kids pool in the back. The pool bar was great and the food and drinks cheap during Happy Hour. The breakfast buffet was also great and had a good variety of food. Our room was clean and spacious.
I would definitely stay there again if I were to return to Langkawi.
The staff were very friendly and gave me some great recommendations for local activities. The room was very clean and well equipped with everything I needed. The hotel's close proximity to the airport (less than a 5-min drive) was an added bonus for my early morning flight. Overall, a fantastic stay in Langkawi, and one of the best hotels I stayed at in Malaysia!
Spacious accommodation that was clean and very well equipped with mini kitchen. Ideal location for Langkawi, you can walk to Pantai Cenang or rent a scooter from the front desk (which we did). The pool area is brilliant, clean and ideal for cooling off in the heat. Very quiet area as it's set back from the road. Free drinking water on site too.
This is our 2nd time here, we are surprised that hotel upgraded a lot. We liked the new carpet. Good location as close to some Langkawi tourist areas. Room was comfortable, food at the restaurant, and pool satisfactory. The welcome was fantastic. The breakfast quality can be improved for this hotel to be truly outstanding.
One of the Best hotels in Langkawi, The room was spacious clean, and modern.
The view, the main reason I picked this hotel, totally wroth it.
The breakfast has a lot to oriental dishes, not many meditrainain or western
We enjoyed the pool espeically since it stays open till late
Hotel restaurant is excellent
Room was very clean, toilet very big, drying rack at the balcony to hang swim suits, and two bean bags to sit at the balcony, the staff service was amazing. .Swimming pool, breakfast.. Actually I was really pleased by staying in this hotel ,I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Langkawi.
Staff are extremely responsive and friendly. The location of the property directly on the beach was my reason to choose this property over newer/more modern hotels in Langkawi. The spacious garden makes for a pleasant setting.
The hotel has one of the best oceanfront locations on Langkawi, quiet and slightly secluded with a stunning view, yet also close to restaurants and spas. The pools and jacuzzi are also among the best on Langkawi.
The staff really care about the guests. The rooms are like the pictures clean and the service was good. The food is excellent. It is located in the best area of langkawi near the mall and the beach.
cheap and a everything you would need nearby! laundry , scooter hire , duty free shop , nice bar (hidden Langkawi) no more than 5 mins. away , 10 mins walk to pantai cenang
I'm sure that Langkawi Lagoon Resort was a nice hotel 10-20 years ago. The room was ok, the airconditioning worked, and the view from the pool of the beach/sea is nice.
Excellent location. McDonalds, Underwater World Langkawi and duty free malls are just across the street. You can walk to Pantai Cenang beach and other stalls as well.
